HARRISTON — What happens when the audience decides what the performer will perform?
On Tuesday, September 29, actor and storyteller Jay Wilson brings his interactive performance Heads & Tales to the Minto Arts Council Gallery as part of Ontario Culture Days.
As a student of theatre, Wilson was captivated by legendary performers who could recite poetry, speeches or stories at the drop of a hat. In Heads & Tales, he does just that — drop the hat and entertain.
Over the years, monologues, poems and unforgettable passages have gathered in the recesses of his mind. To keep them alive, the titles go into a hat. You draw one. Jay performs it. Neither of you knows what’s coming next.
Every performance is different and every draw is a surprise. The result is an evening of stories, poetry, humour and the unexpected, with the audience determining what comes next.
Wilson has spent more than 50 years working as an actor, director, storyteller and arts administrator. Today, through JayWalking Theatre, he creates intimate performances that put the emphasis on strong writing and the connection between performer and audience.
Heads & Tales takes place Tuesday, September 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Minto Arts Council Gallery in Harriston. The Ontario Culture Days performance is free/pay what you wish and is suitable for ages 12 and up.
Seating in the gallery is limited to 30. Reservations are recommended and can be made through the Ontario Culture Days listing or by contacting the Minto Arts Council at info@mintoartscouncil.ca or 519-338-2497. Drop-ins are also welcome if space permits.
